On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I offer my congratulations to the people of Slovakia as you celebrate the 24th anniversary of your constitution on September 1. The United States and Slovakia enjoy a strong bilateral relationship based on shared interests and values. As President of the Council of the European Union in 2016, Slovakia is demonstrating its regional leadership, respect for the rule of law, and commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration.
